The Young Living Income Opportunity
WITH YOUNG LIVING YOU CAN TURN A PASSION FOR HEALTHY LIVING INTO A REAL INCOME
HOW I GOT STARTED
I had just moved to a brand new town where I didn’t know anyone. I had also decided a few months before I enrolled that I didn’t want a business that took me away from my children. It just wasn’t worth it.
And then my mom called me. She shared with me about how she was getting her oils and wellness products for free, and that there was actually more in the check than what she had invested. Several times more. And she didn’t really even understand how it worked, but that I should enroll with a Premium Starter Kit too. So I did - mostly because my mom asked me to.
But I also felt compelled to share with other people - they needed to hear what our leaders had taught me and choose this lifestyle for themselves.
And then one of our leaders invited me to join our community groups where I learned more about what made these oils so different from the ones I had bought before. They taught me about eliminating toxic chemicals in our lives in ways I never even realized we needed to.
Before I got started, I was convinced the market was “saturated” for Young Living, and I was too late to make anything of it.
So I began sharing - I got involved in my community and began meeting people. I shared with friends both new and old, in-person and online. It floored me how many people had never heard about Young Living, and even if they did, how many had never really learned what their Seed to Seal Promise is all about, and why their products are soooo different than anything else.
I had once told people before that they were too expensive, and to try XYZ other brand instead. Now I needed to tell them how much these oils saved us money, and had changed our lives.

What makes Young Living different from other MLMs?
My first experience with an MLM was shortly after graduating from college. The atmosphere was extremely business-professional - we even rented desks in an office, held business presentations, and interviewed prospects to join us. I wore high heels and business suits, and went flat broke trying to make it work. Actually, I went into debt, lost my apartment, and had my car reposessed trying to make it work. Hindsight is 20/20 - but at the time I was blind to what an awful way to conduct business it really was.
I steered clear of the MLM/network marketing business model for decades, until I was introduced to another company as a stay-at-home mom, and decided I could make a go of it - in a much more conservative way. Once again, the company promoted sharing about the business opportunity first, and then helping people become customers if the business wasn’t for them. I tried what they taught, but it just felt slimy to me. The truth is, it just wasn’t congruent with who I was to offer someone a “business.” My heart was really after serving others, not selling them a career path.
The MLMs I’ve come into contact with chose the MLM business model because word of mouth advertising is less expensive/more effective than traditional advertising. They find a product to sell because it is a hot trend in the market, and hope that enough people like their product and the compensation plan that they want to sell it. They make a point of selling you on the market trends and on the marketing plan, and how it can “multiply your efforts”.
When Young Living entered my world, I didn’t want a “business,” and certainly didn’t want to sell anyone on a business opportunity. If anything, I was looking for ways to simply be home with my kids, help save money around the house, and meet some friends in our new town. The more I learned, the more I just wanted to share because I cared about others and wanted to see them healthy and thriving. And if it helped us pay for our orders, then it was a bonus.
I learned later that once upon a time, when Young Living was just getting started, the founder would go and teach business seminars around the country. He would fly to a location one weekend, teach about health and wellness, and come back with orders to fill on Monday. All week he would prepare those orders, and then fly out to the next location the following weekend. He started getting orders that weren’t from the seminar the weekend before. People who were attending the seminar were referring their friends and family to order products because it had made such a difference in their lives. He wanted to thank them for the referral and thus the model of network marketing was implemented - as a way to show gratitude for the referrals.
THE LEADERS IN OUR TEAM DON'T PRETEND THAT A YOUNG LIVING BUSINESS IS ALL SUNSHINE AND ROSES.
They are honest about the work they put in, the time commitment, and the struggles they still face. But they are also passionately speak about how it has changed things so dramatically for them and their families, and that the work is so worth it - even on the hard days. They show up online with kids in the background, in a sweatshirt with messy hair and no makeup. They come to training events with babies in slings, wearing flat shoes, and everyday clothes. No heels or business suits. As a mom, it felt like home.
I appreciated the authenticity, the teamwork, and the fact that there was a community to have each others back.
It was technically the exact same business model, but nothing about the way they conducted business was the same at all.
How much are people earning with a Young Living business?
How much you earn with Young Living is completely up to you. Some members choose to just use the products and ignore the income opportunity all together. Some members help share with a few friends here and there and are happily earning enough to pay for their orders. Some are working for six-figure incomes or more. The choice about how much you do is yours to make. There are many in our team and throughout Young Living who have sponsors who shared casually, and make a little bit, but they choose to take off and run with the business and go after the six and seven figure income potential. Their sponsor is blessed for the referral, but the lion’s share of the income goes to the one that did the work.
Below is a chart showing the average monthly income earned by the nearly 1.75 million Young Living members worldwide. See the most recent income disclosure statement here.
We are here to help you reach your goals, whether that’s paying for your orders, earning a Silver income within 6 months, or reaching Diamond in 3 years. We have the tools you need to succeed and many who have gone before you and done exactly that!!
I’m currently a Silver leader with Young Living and I’ve been doing the business for a little over four years. Most of my growth to this point has been through in-person sharing. My goal is to scale that by providing education, support and training both in-person and online.
Our team consists of leaders who share through a variety of methods, and we will always encourage you to do what feels authentic and true to who you are.
