Fun thing I did today… my nails… NATURALLY!
But before I share what I did, let me tell you a little about the history of my fingernails. Because I know you’ve been wondering.
Once upon a time, every single one of my digits peeled. They were paper thin, with thick, ugly ridges. I couldn’t grow them out because they would snag, break or bend backwards.
When I transitioned all our household and personal care products to Young Living, they stopped splitting, and the ridges seemed to smooth out. I could tell it was possible for them to grow a lot longer.
Why would toxic chemicals have anything to do with how your nails look? Our fingernails are a great way to see what health concerns may be going on beneath the surface. For example, the ridges that were in my nails before are signs that there may be psoriasis or arthritis. As a side note – i had a few spots of psoriasis on my knees that have since also disappeared. Those two things are signs of inflammation in the body. Inflammation is the body’s natural response to protect itself from harm – especially harm from toxic ingredients. So as I removed the toxic ingredients from my life, the signs of inflammation disappeared too.
This is a big reason I stopped using nail polish or nail treatments. The chemicals in nail polish are some of the most toxic things we can put on or in our bodies. Some of these chemcials include: Dibutyl phthalate (DBP), Formaldehyde, Triphenylphosphate, Colophonium, Synthetic Camphor, Toluene. Even the “cleaner” ones use dyes, which are toxic to the nervous system. the chemicals do seep into our bodies, even after the polish has hardened.
As much fun as it can be to have a pretty color or pattern on my nails, I find more joy in having nails that are naturally healthy and look nice WITHOUT having to decorate them at all.
So without toxic chemicals, my nails were healthier, but I do Raindrop essential oil applications for people, so I was cutting them short so regularly that Inever got to see them grow like this for long. The whole pandemic thing meant I wasn’t doing Raindrops on anyone for a while, so they’ve had a chance to really grow.
Part of this growth I should attribute to Taking 1/2 tsp of Sulfurzyme 2x per day. Sulfur is amazing for helping grow healthy hair and nails, and it seems to be even more effective for me when combined with Ningxia Wolfberry powder. I notice they seem even stronger, and so does my hair. There’s fewer split ends there as well.
I filed them and buffed them.
Then I used the Thieves Whitening toothpaste and a toothbrush to scrub them underneath and polish the tops.
That’s it! Im no hand model, but my whites are nice and fresh looking, they feel strong, and the upkeep is practically free.
